雨の千畳敷カール(Rainy Senjojiki Circle Valley)

秋雨前線の影響で10月に入っても雨が続きます。10月7日に僕らは千畳敷カール散策のバスツアーを申し込んでいましたが、秋雨前線の移動でさすがの僕らも完全には雨を降らさないわけにはゆきませんでした。

Influenced by the autumn rain front, it had been rainy about two weeks. Though we were expected to take a bus tour to Senjojiki Circle Valley, even our Pony power could not keep it from raining at all.

ロープウェイ乗り場へのバス乗り場がある「しらび平」ではまだ降りだしていませんでしたが、ロープウェイ乗り場はすでに激しい雨。ロープウェイは60人乗りですが、雨にもかかわらず混雑していて三十分ほどかかってやっと上に上がれました。

While we were in Shirabi-Daira, from where we took a designated bus to the ropeway station, it was not raining yet but by the time we arrived at the ropeway station, it started raining hard. The ropeway can accommodate 60 people for one ride but the station was so crowded in spite of the bad weather that we had to wait for half an hour before getting a ride.

上は激しい風雨で、雲がかかってほとんど何も見えません。ちょうど風で雲が薄れたので、ロープウェイ乗り場の出口を出て写真を撮りましたが、数分でびしょ濡れになったので、僕らは散策を断念。

It was raining hard and very windy as well up there. We went out of the upper ropeway station to take the pictures below when the clouds were lifted up a little but very soon the rain and wind became so hard again that we had to hurry back into the station. We thought it impossible for us to take a walk up there in this weather.

完全装備の人たち数人が散策に出ましたが、十分ほどで濡れ鼠になって戻ってきました。

上には腰を下ろす場所もないため、僕らは予定を早めてロープウェイで下に降り、バスで「しらび平」まで引き返しました。

Some brave people in their full costumes against rain dared to walk into this weather but came back shortly later in soaking wet. Because of the bad weather, the ropeway station was so crowded that there were no seat to sit down for lunch. We gave up staying up there and came down by ropeway and rode a bus back to Shirabi-Daira.

下も雨が降った様子でしたが、僕らが戻った頃は陽が差していて、僕らは取り敢えず昼ご飯を食べました。

It seemed to have raind down there, too. Still, when we came back there, it was even sun-shining and we could have our lunch at the picnic table.
