瀬戸内の旅 2(A Travel along the Seto Inland Sea 2)

6月12日、山陽線を使って姫路から福山に向かいました。いつもは新幹線ですので、姫路から岡山までは初めての乗車で、新鮮な体験でした。

岡山を出て倉敷に到着のアナウンスを聞いて、そうだ、お昼は倉敷で食べよう！　という気になって、途中下車しました。

On June 12, we took a Sanyo Line from Himeji to Fukuyama. As we usually use a Shinkansen Line, we took a Sanyo Line from Himeji to Okayama for the first time and enjoyed it.

Coming up Kurashiki, we suddenly thought it would be nice to have lunch in Kurashiki, though Kurashiki is a familiar town and got off there.

倉敷の街並は良く知っていますが、ぶらり散策するには良いところです。

This is a very familiar sight but a nice place to walk around.

お昼は美観地区を眺めながら、ままかり御膳を頂きました。

お堀巡りをやりたかったのですが、予約が一杯で、午後4時にならないと駄目ということだったので、ギブアップ。

We had small sardines for lunch, looking over the canal.

Later we wanted to take a ride along the canal but we were informed that the first available ride was at 4:00 p.m. to our regrets.

街をぶらぶらしてから福山に向かいました。

After walking around the town for a while, we headed to Fukuyama.

福山駅前のダイワロイネットホテルに宿泊。ここも普通のビジネスホテルですが、早くに予約を取ったせいか、部屋をランクアップしてもらえて、海外並みの広さの部屋でゆっくりできました。設備はすべて超新しくて、デザインもお洒落で、バスルームも個室の専用バスルーム（バスタブの外で体が洗える）で、お得感満載でした。

We reserved another business hotel near the station, Daiwa Roynett Hotel. Somehow, they graded up our room and we got a spacious twin room, which was wonderful! The equipments were all modern and new. We loved the bathroom, too.

午後のひと時、れいこさんの母校である福山附属高校への通学路を散策。高校の手間にあったバラ公園にも寄ってみました。バラの花は終わっていましたが、公園がすごく立派になっていて、驚きました。

Late afternoon, we walked along the route Reiko used to take to her high school. We stopped by the Rose Garden, which was located near the high school. Reiko was surprised to find it much more gorgeous than it used to be.

かつて、広島大学福山分校と附属中・高等学校があった場所は、緑町公園という大きな公園に変わっていました。ここにもバラで作られた山があって、時期にはさぞかし美しく、バラの街福山の観光スポットになっているようでした。附属高校時代にも校庭に校樹のオリーブの他に、たくさんのバラが植わっていました。思い出の地が美しい憩いの場所になっているのは、嬉しい発見でした。

The old site of her high school was made into Midorimachi Garden. It was a big garden with several sections, one of which was a rose mountain, which we imagined would be beautiful enough to be a tourist site of the rose city, Fukuyama.

附属時代の友人には、僕らのまとめ役を買ってくれている人がいて、おかげで瀬戸内の幸を頂きながら、附属の同窓生との楽しいひと時を過ごすことができました。話が尽きず、まだ二時間くらいと思っていたら、四時間も経っていてびっくりしました。お友達には、付き合って頂いて、感謝でした。

One of Reiko's old classmate takes troubles to nurtur old friendship of the highschool days. This time, he kindly arranged a dinner place for us. We enjoyed talkeing so much that we talked four hours without realizing how fast time had past. We thank for the friends who came there to see us.

6月13日、尾道に向かいます。

On June 13, we rode another local train to Onomichi.

菩提寺に浄泉寺さん。

お墓参りをして、無沙汰を詫び、そのあと法要を行いました。

We first cleaned the tombs and then had a anniversary ceremony in the main building.

法要が終わってから、市役所近くの料亭、かき左衛門で打ち上げ。

ここはお店の名前どおり、牡蠣が美味しい。大きな牡蠣を焼き牡蠣で頂いたり、牡蠣フライで頂いたりしましたが、お腹が空いていて、あ、写真を撮り忘れた！　と、なってしまいました。

After the anniversary ceremony, we had a late lunch at Kakizaemon near the City Hall.

This restaurant is famous for its oysters and we enjoyed baked oysters and deep-fried oysters. They stasted so good that we could not wait for eating them and forgot to take their pictures!
