広島講演旅行：帰路淡路(On the Way Home form Hiroshima: in Awaji)

11月16日、神戸は美味しいパン屋さんがたくさんあるそうですが、いろいろなパンを用意してくださっていました。どれも美味しくて、他に、卵とサラダも出してくださったので、ちょっと食べ過ぎてしまった。

On Nov. 16, we were serverd various kinds of Kobe bread which are well know as their good qualities. As we were also served eggs and salads, we had a big breakfast.

前日に続き、素晴らしい晴天で、僕らはお義兄さんの運転で淡路島を目指しました。

まずは、淡路海峡大橋を抜けた最初の道の駅で、大観覧車に乗りました。

れいこさんは高いところは苦手と言っていたけれど、足元が見えないものなら乗れそうということで、僕も連れて行ってもらえました。

It was another excellent day and our brother-in-law drove us to Awaji Island.

Our first stop was the road-station just past the first bridge, Awaji Kaikyo Bridge, where there was a big Ferris wheel. Reiko first hesitated to take it on account of her acrophobia but looking up at it, she decided to take it after all.

心配したほど揺れもせず、怖くなかったです。上から見る橋はまた格別。海が広かった。

Our Ferris wheel gondola was quite steady and Reiko was all right in it. The sea looked larger and wider from a high place.

ゴンドラの中ではあまり動きたくなかったれいこさんは、下に降りて、改めて落ち着いて記念撮影。

Reiko did not want to move a lot in the gondola to take pictures. So we had taken our picture with the bridge after we got it off.

そのあと、淡路島を突っ切って、反対側の橋、大鳴門橋を通り、そちら側にある道の駅に行きました。

この道の駅は橋の下にあって、駐車場に車を駐めて、シャトルバスで向かいます。

時間はまだ11時でしたが、昼食難民になることを恐れて、早めのランチをここで頂きました。

After the first road-station, we rode all the way through the island to the other bridge, Naruto Bridge, and visited the road-station just under it.

Here we went by a shuttle bus from the parking lot.

We took a little early lunch there lest we should become a lunch refugee.

We stood at the same hight as the bridge. We could see some whirlpools, too, though they were not big ones.

There was a big onion object in the parking lot, for they yield good onions in Awaji Island.

午後は南淡路市のイングランドの丘に行きました。

ここは思っていた以上に広くて、ここだけで一日ゆっくり遊べる場所でした。

In the afternoon, we visited England Hill in Minami-Awaji City, which was much bigger than I had expected. One can spend a whole day there without getting bored.

僕らはまず、入って右手奥にある動物園に向かいました。ここにはコアラやワラビーなど、珍しいオーストリアに生息する動物がたくさんいました。コアラは珍しい生き物なので、最初は一頭だけと思い、こっちを向いてくれないかなあと足を止めて待っていたのですが、実はあっちにもこっちにもいて、先に進むと、こっちを向いて寝ている子もいました。

We first visited the zoo are on the end of the right side. There were many animals and birds who are originally from Australia.

I saw Koalas for the first time. I thought there were only a few Koalas and stayed at the nearest one who would not look at us, hoping it would turn around. Later, however, we found many more Koalas and one of them seemed to be sleeping with its face on our side.

僕の個人的な好みとしては、カピバラさんの顔が一番好きでした。この表情には癒されますね。

I personally loved capybaras, whose faces were really heartwarming.

鳥も亀も、とにかくたくさん、いました。

We saw a lot of kinds of animals as well as birds.

途中には温室もあって、見たことのない花もたくさんありました。

There were many strange flowers and plants in the greenhouse, too.

中央に引き返し、シャトルバスで花園の方に移動しました。大きなコスモス畑がちょうど見頃でした。

We came back to the entrance and took a shuttle bus to go the flower garden area, where cosmoses were just in full bloom.

結構広い池もありました。時間があれば、白鳥ボートにも乗りたかった。

There was quite a big pond, too. I would have taken a swan boat ride if we had had enough time.

このコーナーには、大きな木が並んでいましたが、それに目がついていて、可愛かった。

一回り歩いたあとに、ソフトクリームを食べました。淡路島では放牧もされているので、牛乳が美味しいそうです。

再び淡路海峡大橋を抜け、JR垂水駅に送ってもらい、堺のお姉さんのところに戻りました。

There were big trees and with their eyes, they looked very cute.

After a good walk in the park, we treated ourselves a cup of soft cream. As they have a cow ranch of their own, their soft cream was very tasty.

Later, they drove us to Tarumi station, from where we went back to Reiko's sister's house in Sakai.

お姉さんのところでもう一泊し、翌日、いつものルートで帰路に。8日間の旅が終わりました。

旅行中は台風が近づいていたのに、一日も雨が降らず、最後は快晴で温かく、過ごしやすく、お留守番の兄達のお陰と、兄達は皆、賞めてもらいました。

さて、講演旅行は無事に終わりましたが、安曇野に戻った翌日から寒波到来、僕らの旅行と共に秋も終わりました。

We stayed at Reiko's sister house another night and on the next morning we came home in Azumino, after 8 day trip.

During the trip, we did not have any rain at all though there was a typhoon on the south sea. Moreover, we had an excellent weekend for our after lecture tour. So, my older Po brothers were very proud for their good support to our trip and received a nice kiss from Reiko with her gratitude.

On the very next day after we finished our lecture trip to Hiroshima, the temperature suddenly dropped in Azumino to tell that the winter has started.
