広島講演旅行:広島（A Trip to Hiroshima for a Lecture)

11月13日、安田女子大学での講演の日です。大学内は紅葉が見頃でした。馴染みが深い大学ですが、来る度に新しい建物が増えて、驚かされます。

On Nov. 13, we took a taxi to Yasuda Women's College to give a lecture there.

We have known this college for many years but each time we come, a new building is added to our surprise.

講演が終わり、大学の皆さんと一緒に寛ぎのランチ

After the lecture, we took a nice talk and lunch with our friends in the college.

講演のあと、平和公園で教え子さんのひとりと落ち合う予定でした。

少し時間があったので、タクシーには原爆ドームで下ろしてもらい、久し振りの平和公園を公園正面まで散策しました。

Later we took another taxi to go back to the city to meet another former student in the Peace Park. As we had enough time before meeting her, we got off the taxi near the A-bomb dome and walked through the park to its front.

慰霊碑の前では、世界平和をお祈りしました。

We prayed for the world peace here.

教え子さんと落ち合い、そごうの中のカフェで歓談。その後、基町クレドをぶらついて少し時間を潰してから、この日泊めてもらうことになっていた友人宅に向かいました。

With our former student, we went back to Sogo Department store to take a tea in a tea shop in it. Later we walked around in Motomachi Credo to spend time before joining our friend, with whom we were expected to stay on that night.

もともと信州で知り合った友人ですが、今は安田女子大学にいます。不思議なご縁ですね。

というわけで、ワインは信州ワインでした。

We first met this friend in Shinshu many years ago and now she is teaching in Yasuda Women's College in Hiroshima. She still has a house in Shinshu so that we drank a bottle of Shinshu wine.

翌日、11時に別の教え子さんと広島駅で落ち合いました。

新しい駅舎になってお客さんが増えているそうですが、11時に開く食堂街に長蛇の列。僕らはなんとか並ばすにこの店に入りましたが、僕らの後はすでに長蛇の列。以前の食堂街の感覚でいたので、びっくりしました。

広島に来たのにお好み焼きを食べずに帰りたくなくて、お好み焼きは僕のリクエストでした。

ちょっと喧しい場所だったけれど、教え子さんとは楽しく会話できました。

On Nov. 14, we met another former student in Hiroshima Station at 11:00 a.m.

We did not know how the station resturants would be crowded since the building was renewed. We had to make a long queue to go into the restaurant area. We managed to take a seat in this Okonomiyaki restaurant without making a queue but soon afterwards, we saw a long queue just outside.

Okonomiyaki was my request. After all, we went all the way to Hiroshima. I did not want to leave there without eating its Okonomiyaki.

The place was a little noisy but we had a very good time with Reiko's former student.

午後の新幹線で大阪のお姉さんのところに向かいました。この日の夜は、お姉さんのところに泊めてもらいました。

Later we took a Sakura Super-express train to Shin-Osaka to visit Reiko's sister in Sakai, where we stayed on that night.
