小さな旅：夏の尾瀬（A Short Trip to Oze National Park)

この8月は三つのバスツアーを申し込んでいて、結構あちこち行けると思っていたのに、うち二つがキャンセル。残りひとつが8月14日、お盆休みの真っ最中の尾瀬ハイキングでした。お盆で混むのではないかと心配していたところに、雷雨予報。前日は安曇野でもひどい雷雨で、こんな中、何も遮るもののない湿原を歩くのは嫌だなと、れいこさんが言い出した。それを兄たちが、僕らが何とかするから、行っておいでよと送り出してくれた。

何とかした場合には、銀の鈴の代わりに、ベッドで一緒に寝て貰うというご褒美が貰える約束を取り付けて、兄達はご機嫌でした。だけど、何とかならなかったら、無駄飯食いのレッテルを貼られて肩身が狭くなるんじゃあないかと、僕はちょっと心配していました。というのも、当日、安曇野は朝から雨だったからです。

We had subscribed three bus tours this August but two of them were cancelled. The only one left was the bus tour to Oze National Park on August 14. It was in the middle of the Bon Holidays and we were afraid of a traffic conjestion. What was worse, the weather forcast had predicted a bad weather with thunders. As we had terrible thunders one day before, Reiko hesitated to join this tour so much that she was almost going to telephone the tour company to inform that we would not participate the tour. Then the older brothers offered to manage the weather for our convenience in exchange with the permission of their sleeping in the bed. Honestly speaking, I was afraid that we, Po brothers, might be regarded as good-for-nothing if they failed to manage the weather, for we left the house in the rain on the day.

途中、赤城高原SAではとても良いお天気で、これが続いてくれると良いなあと期待。

In Akagi Highland SA on the way to Oze, it was so fine that I hoped that this weather lasted.

尾瀬に到着しても、雨は降っていませんでしたが、運転手さんも、現地のネイチャーガイドさんも、今日は雷雨予想だから、しっかり雨具の準備をしておいてくれと警告。

出発時点では雨が降っていなかったので、今のうちに記念撮影しますかと言われて、尾瀬の看板と一緒に記念撮影。

雨が降ったら気温が下がるかと思って準備した毛織りのシャツやカーディガンだけでなく、アノラックも無用な暑さで、シャツ一枚で撮影。

When we arrived at Oze, it was not yet raining. Still our bus driver and the nature guides in Oze warned us against an expected bad weather. We were also told that the starting point was a good photo chance before raining and had our picture taken with the sign of Oze.

Reiko brought a cardigan and a wool shirt, not to mention an anorak, but it was so warm that she wore only an undershirt.

尾瀬は想像していた以上に広い。僕らは左下の鳩待峠でバスを降りて、入山。山の鼻でお昼を食べて、牛首分岐までの道のりの半分を行っただけでした。それでも、十分に歩きました！

中央：尾瀬ヶ原方面入り口。ここから出発です。

右：最初は石畳でしたが、途中から板の道に代わりました。雨が降っていたら、石でも板でも滑りやすいなあと思いました。

Oze was far more wider than we had expected. We started from Hatomachi Peak, at the left down side of the map, and walked up to Yamanohana, where we had lunch. Then we walked towards Ushikubi Division and turned back only the half way of it. Still we walked more than enough!

right: At the beginning, the walk was covered with cobbles then with wooden plates, either of which must be quite slippery when it rains.

最初のうちは山道という感じで、いろいろな植物を見ながらゆっくり歩きます。沢もたくさん越えました。

マルバダケブキが例年よりもたくさん咲いているそうです。蕗に似た丸いギザギザの葉っぱが特徴です。

These yellow flowers were observed more often than usual.

お昼前、山の鼻に到着。どうやら雨はまだ降らずに済んでいて、外でお昼ご飯の舞茸弁当を食べることができました。

We arrived at Yamanohana a little before noon. It was not raining yet and we could have lunch with Maitake mushroom outside.

ここでも雷雨予想。

気温は26度で、湿度が高く、熱中症警戒アラートも出ていました。

Here they wanrned us against rain with thunders. The temperature was 26℃ and the heatattack alert was issued, too.

尾瀬ヶ原を歩きます。

「夏の思い出」の歌詞通り、「遙かな尾瀬、遠い空」を楽しみました。

We waled in Ozegahara, where we enjoyed the scenery described in the song, "Summer Memory."

初めて見る植物もありました。

上段中央：稲のような穂が垂れたキンコウカ

上段右：食虫植物のモウセンゴケ

下段中央と右：ヒツジグサ

There were many plants we saw for the first time.

The ponds reflected the sky and clouds beautifully, too.

正面の燧ヶ岳（ひうちだけ）は2,356m で、東北以北の最高峰だそうです。

The mountain in front is Mt. Hiuchidake. It is 2,356m high and the tallest in the Northern Japan.

When the wind stopped, Mt. Hiuchidake was reflected on the pond.

振り返ると、至仏山2,228mも全貌を眺めることができました。こちらは蛇紋岩という特殊な岩のために、植物限界が低いそうです。

On the opposite side of the wetland, we could see the whole picture of Mt. Shibutuzan, 2,228m high. This mountain is covered by special kind of rocks called Jamongan, because of which plants do not grow on the top.

僕らはここで引き返しました。

帰り道、何度もスマホに雷雲接近アラートが入り、れいこさんが、もうちょっと頑張ってと声をかけるので、兄達にも一生懸命お願いテレパシーを送り続けたところ、無事に鳩待峠まで引き返してくることができました。

左：ご褒美に花豆ソフトクリームで一服していると、雨が降って来ました。

バスでの帰り道、ところどころ雨に遭いました。妙義山など、雲が流れて神秘的でした（右）。

We turned back from this point.

On the way back, we received an cellphone alert of approaching thunderclouds again and again. Reiko kept asking me to hold the good weather and I kept sending Po telepathy to my older brothers to help me! And we made it! We came back to Hatomachi Peak, our starting point before raining.

left: I got Hanamame bean Softcream as a reward. While I was eating it, it started raining.

On the way back in the bus, it rained here and there and Mt. Myougisan were very mystereous in the clouds(right).
