安曇野の冬の楽しみ(Winter Pleasure in Azumino)

1月12日、乗鞍にスキーに来た姪一家（長女は用事があって名古屋に居残り）が訪ねてくれました。前回から5年半経っていて、末っ子も7歳に。賑やかな一時を持たせてもらえました。

On Jan. 12, my niece's family visited us in Azumino after skiing in Norikura, after 5 years' interval. The youngest child became 7 years old (last time, she was only one year and some months). We had a pleasant time together.

1月19日、この日は快晴で、御宝田遊水池での野鳥観察会に出かけました。

On Jan. 19, a very fine day, we joined the wild bird watching tour at Gohouden Reservoir Pond.

池は半分凍っていて、鴨さんの姿が氷に映っていました。

野鳥の会の人と一緒だと、鴨の種類も教えてもらえる。でも一回、二回では、なかなか区別しきれない。

Half of the pond was frozen and reflected ducks' figures clearly.

The members of the wild bird watching society kindly taught us the names of various ducks but we need more experience to recognize them.

この日の大収穫は、カワセミが見られたことです。初めてで、色の鮮やかさに興奮しました！

We were excited to find a kingfisher, for the first time, whose colors were brilliant in the sun!

1月22日、比較的晴天が続く中の平日狙いで、大糸線で穂高から糸魚川まで出ました。

中央：有明山の左、燕岳がはっきり見えました。

右：飢餓岳くっきり。

On Jan. 22 was such a fine warm day that we took a train of Ohito Line to go to Itoigawa.

middle: The whole view of Mt. Tubakurodake behind Mt. Ariake was observed.

right: Mt. Kigadake was observed very well, too.

大町を過ぎると雪が増えてきました。白馬のあたりはすっかり雪国です。

左上：大町を通り過ぎた駅で、対向車両の到着を待っています。

右下：南小谷で糸魚川行きに乗り換えです。

After Ohmachi station, the land was covered with snow.

upper left: We stopped to wait for a train towards Matsumoto.

lower right: We changed trains at Minami Otari to go to Itoigawa.

白馬を過ぎたあたり。山と、山に並行しての雲で、珍しい景色に。

Just after passing Hakuba, we saw a long white cloud along the mountains.

姫川に沿って糸魚川に向かいます。

After Minami Otari, the train runs along Hime River.

右：日本海。この左端が珠洲市です。

left: We had Sushi with fresh fish in Itoigawa.

左：お日さまと一緒に帰路に着きます。

中央：南小谷で、落雪のために白馬からの列車が遅れていました。

右：大町に向かう列車ではスキー場の明かりが見えました。

left:We were on the way home and so did the sun.

middle: We got stuck at Minami Otari station on account of a snow fall near Hakuba.

right: We left Minami Otari about 20 delay and saw lights on a ski site near Hakuba.

青木湖まで戻ってきました。

このあと、大町では接続列車がすでに出発していたため、40分の待ち時間になりました。プラットホームの待合室には暖房が効いていなくて、疲れが出て、れいこさんは具合が悪くなってしまいました。

兄達は申し訳ながりましたが、落雪ですんで、雪崩に列車が巻き込まれたりしなかったのは、兄達が頑張ってくれたおかげでした。

一晩寝ると、れいこさんも回復したので、糸魚川で買ってきたヒラメをフライにして、兄達も一緒にお魚ランチを楽しみました。

Disappointingly, our train had already left at Ohmachi station when we arrived there and we had to wait for the next train for about 40 minutes on such a cold platform that Reiko got sick on the train back to Hotaka.

My older brothers were very sorry about it but they claimed that they did their best to prevent an avalanche on our train and could not help a small snow fall.

Anyway, Reiko recovered after a night's sleep and cooked flounders purchaced in Itoigawa for lunch, which all the Po brothers were invited to share for their joy.
