安曇野の冬 (Winter Pleasures in Azumino)

2月2日、今年は例年より一日早く節分がやってきました。我が家では一番下が鬼にならなければならないので、この日は大変です。でも、豆まきのあとは、みんなで仲良く歳の数だけの豆を頂きました。

Setubun Festival arrived one day earlier than usual on Februray 2. In our house, the youngest Po is supposed to take the role of a goblin. I hate this role but after a custom of throwing beans, we got together and ate beans according to the number of our age.

We made a roll of Sushi for ourselves.

翌日、立春に合わせてお雛飾りを出し、春の早い到来を願いました。

On the next day, the first day of Spring, we took out the dolls for the Girl's Festival to celebrate the arrival of the spring.

僕らの願いとは裏腹に、立春とともに寒波がやってきました。

この冬はずーっと雪が降っていなかったので、5センチほどの雪でしたが、僕らはさっそく雪だるまを作りました。

Against our expectation, the first day of spring brought a big cold mass which lasted quite a long time.

We did not have so much snow as in the northern areas but we still had a five centimeter high snow. This was our first snow enough to make a snow man this winter. My older brothers and I made 7 snow men!

一世や二世兄たちも出てきて、賑やかでした。

Po senior and Po junior joined us at the end to our great joy.

寒い日が続いたので、雪だるまさんは一週間近く留まってくれました。

寒波が過ぎた翌日、暖かい日差しのもとで雪だるまさんは雪亀さんになり、やがて消えてゆきました。

As it had been very cold for a week, our snow men stayed at our home for a week, too.

Then under the warm sunshine, snow men became snow turtles and finally disappeared.

2月15日、やっと暖かさが戻り、国営アルプス安曇野公園の散策に出かけました。あづみの学校の奥の部屋で菜の花が展示されていたので、まずはその会場へ。

On Februray 15, at last some warmness arrived. To enjoy a good sunshine, we took a walk in the Alps Azumino Government Park, where they exhibited rape blossoms inside of Azumino School.

お天気が良くて、あずみの学校の水槽の向こうに常念岳がはっきり望めました。

It was such a fine day that we could observe Mt. Jounen behind the pond from the inside of Azumino School.

今年は雪が少なめなので、少し奥の方に向かって歩きました。いつもは木々で見えない常念岳がずーっと見渡せました。

This year there was not so much sonw and we walked around the background of Azumino School, looking over Mt. Jounen. In the other seasons, the leaves of the trees prevented our view of Mt. Jounen around there.

公園中央部。凍った池に常念岳の姿が映っていました。

In the middle part of the park, Mt. Jounen's white peak was reflected on the icy surface of the pond.

エナガさんの群れに遭遇しました。可愛かった。

We came across a flock of Long-Tailed Tits, who were cute!

シジュウカラもそこここで鳴いていました。

We could see Titmouses here and there, too.

快晴で、戸隠や菅平の方まで見渡せました。

It was such a fine day that we could see Togakushi and Sugadaira very celarly, too.
