バルト三国への旅 6 帰国編 (A Travel to the Three Baltic Countries 6: On the Way Home)

8月21日、旅程9日目、帰路に着く前の午前中を使い、僕らは最後の観光として、タリンの野外博物館を訪れました。ここには古い時代からの建物が年代を追って見られるようになっています。途中、映画の撮影も行われていて、静かにするように注意されました。

On August 21, the 9th day of our travel, we visited our last sight, Outdooer Museum in Talin, where we could see various houses through the ages. In one place, a movie was being shot and we were asked to be quiet.

左：午前中の観光を終えたところでタリン空港へ。小さな空港です。

中央：ここのトイレも男女共用でした。バルト三国ではしばしば男女共用トイレがありました。最初は男の人が待っているのを見て、トイレを間違えたかと慌てたれいこさんは、合理的と言えば合理的なのだなあと言いつつも、最後まで慣れていない様子でした。

右：慣れないといえば、デザインがお洒落なこういう手洗い器にも、なかなか慣れられなかったようです。真ん中に手を差し出すと水が出て手が洗え、そのあと両側に手をずらすと、温風が吹き出して乾かす仕組みですが、ちょっと洗う手がぶれると、この温風が凄い音を立てて、凄い勢いで吹き出すのです。便利なのか、不便なのかと、いうところです。

left: After the last sightseeing, we headed to Talin Airport, a very small compact airport.

middle: Here the toilets were unisex, too. We saw unisex toilets very often in the Baltic Countries. At the first time, Reiko got very upset to find men in the toilet, thinking she was mistaken. Later, she said that unisex toilets are quite functional. Yet she did not seem to get accustomed to it.

right: Another thing she could not get accustomed to was this kind of a hand washing tap. You are supposed to set your hands in the middle so that water automatically will be poured to wash your hands and then to remove your hands at the sides so that warm wind will dry your hands. Yet if you move your hands a little to wash them, you may be surprised by a sudden gush of warm wind. Reiko said that it might be too functional to be convenient.

タリンの空港のラウンジでは、お昼ご飯代わりに、そしてこれが食べ納めと、白ワインでにしんのサンドイッチを頂きました。にしん、お土産に買って帰りたかったけれど、エストニアでもあるだろうと思って最初に買わずにいたら、最後のお店では一種類、とても高いものしかなかったから、買わなかった。残念だった。

In the lounge of Talin Airport, we had some sandwitches with herrings for lunch and to finish eating herrings, which we liked but could buy for souvenirs, with a glass of white wine.

ヘルシンキまでの飛行機はやはり可愛い飛行機です。

Once again, an airplane to Helsinki was a small one.

小さな飛行機で、乗る時も降りるときも、飛行機までは歩きます。ヘルシンキに到着し、滑りそうなタラップを降りて、空港内の建物まで入ったとき、背後の人たちが駆けてきたので振り返ると、急な土砂降り。もう5分遅かったら、びしょ濡れになっていました。

We used such a small airplane that we walked to and from the airplane. After landing on Helsinki, we stepped out of the airplane and walked to the airport building. While we were passing through the entrance gate, other came running into the building. We turned around to see a torrential rain to our surprise. If we had taken a few minutes more to get off, we would have got soaked!

中央と右：今回のフライトではちゃんと機内食を食べるつもりでいたので、時間潰しも兼ねて、フルーツを少しだけ頂きました。

left: The lounge in Helsinki was very fashionable.

middle and right: As we intended to have dinner on the flight back, we had only some fruits to pass time.

少し早めにラウンジを出てみると、クリスマスのお店やムーミンのお店など、ヘルシンキならではのお店がありました。また、クリスマスハウスもありました。やはりサンタクロースの国ですね。

We left the lounge a little eaarlier to look into some Norway shops such as a Chritmas shop and a Moomin shop. We also found a Christmas House. Norway is after all the home of Santa Claus.

左：機内食、写真ではたいしたことないように見えますが、味がとても良かったです。僕らはだいたいに機内食は好きでないけれど、これは美味しいと思いました。とても珍しいことです。

中央：メインにはイタリアの赤を頂きました。（その前に、シャンパンを一杯飲んでいた）

右：デザートにチーズを選ぶと、フライトアテンダントさんからのアドバイスで、是非にフランス、ルーション地方のワイン、モーリーを試すようにとのこと。これはブランデー入りで強いのはわかっていたけれど、試したらすごく良くあって、ついつい飲み過ぎてしまった。

left: The dinner on the flight may not look so nice in the picture but actually tasted very well. As we usually do not like food on a flight, this was really good.

middle: We had Italian red wine to go with the main dish. (We had had a glass of champaign beforehand.)

right: When we chose cheese for our dessert, we were recommended a glass of Mauray. We knew it was a strong wine but it really went very well with cheese. We were happily satisfied and drunk!

大阪が見えてきました。関空に至る橋。

Now we could see Osaka and the long bridge to Kansai Airport.

タリンの朝は9度でした。関空に到着した時は36度。温度差に、余計暑く感じました。

翌日、8月23日に穂高に戻って来ましたが、穂高も34度あって、暑さ負けしてしまいました。

It was only 9 degrees in the morning of the last day in Talin. When we came back to Osaka, it was 36 degrees. There were so much temperature differences that we suffered from the heat all the more.

We came home in Hotaka on the next day, where it was 34 degrees. Together with a jet lug, we felt much more tired from traveling than usual.

旅の中程、天気が悪いという予想でしたが、結局、雨はグートマニャ洞穴で降られただけですみました。お兄ちゃんたちのおかげです。約束どおり、お兄ちゃんたちにはたくさんのお土産を買って帰りました。大阪のお土産も忘れずに手に入れてきました。

Rain had been expected all the time during the middle part of our travel but it rained, after all, only for a short while in Gutmanis Cave, thanks to my older brothers. And I brought back many kinds of souvenirs to satisfy them. I did not forget to some in Osaka, too.
