暑い夏を楽しむ（Let's Enjoy the Hot Summer!)

7月だというのに30度を超える日が続きます。少し涼しいところで体を休めたいと考えていると、家の近くのホテルアンビエントが、安曇野高原リゾートホテルとしてリニューアルオープンしたと聞いて、7月23日、出かけてみることにしました。
Still in July, we already had consecutive hot days. When we wanted to visit somewhere cool, we learned that Hotel Ambient near our house was renovated into a new hotel, Azumino Highland Resort Hotel. We decided to try this new hotel on July 23.
外観は以前とあまり変わりません。
Outlisde has not been changed a lot.
部屋は4人から6人で使用できるメゾネットの広い部屋を取りました。ポー兄弟全員がお伴しても、ゆったり過ごせました。
This time we reserved a Maisonette-style apartment. It was so spacious that all the Po brothers who accompanied Reiko could stay comfortably, enjoying themselves.
台所はついているけれど、鍋や包丁、皿などの機材は持ち込む必要がありました。寝室は二階に二部屋、それぞれにベッドが二つ。階下のソファもベッドになるので、六人が利用できます。
There was a kitchen, too. Yet if you want to cook there, you need to bring a pan, a knife and a cutting boad, as well as plates and silvers. There were two bed room on the second floor, each of which had two beds.
お風呂場に通じる休憩所もリニューアルしていました。
The rest space on the way to the baths was renovated, too.
今回、大いにアップグレードしたのはお風呂で、雰囲気の良い露天やサウナ、サウナ休憩所ができ、男女交代制で三箇所のそれぞれのお風呂に入ることができ、れいこさんは大いに満足したようです。
The bathes were greatly refined. There are three bath areas with various types of baths. Reiko could try all kinds and seemed to be quite satisfied.
食事は夜も朝もビュッフェスタイルに統一。人手不足なんだなあと。
れいこさんはビュッフェスタイルが好きでないので、今回、僕らはお野菜たっぷりの部屋食に。寛いで食事が出来て、これもなかなか良かったです。
The dinner and the breakfast were supposed to be served in a buffet style -- apparently there are not enough stuff to serve on a table.
Reiko does not like a buffet style. We brought with us a cooked plates of vegetables and snacks to eat in our room. We enjoyed it, for we had a very relaxed time there.
8月2日、県知事選挙の期日前投票をした帰り道、穗高神社の風鈴で涼むことにしました。風が吹いて、軽やかな音色に、ひと時、暑さを忘れました。
On August 2, on the way back from Reiko's early voting for the gubernatorial election, we stopped by Hotaka shrine to enjoy the cool sound of glass wind chimes.
8月5日、大阪から友人がキャンピングカーでやってきて、一緒に五竜高山植物園を訪ねました。
On August 5, one of our friends visited us in his camping car and brought us to Goryu Highland Botanical Garden.
山麓のとおみ駅は標高818mですでに少し涼しいのですが、そこから標高1515mのアルプス平駅まで、一気に700ｍほどをロープウェイで上がります。さらに、そこからアルプス展望ペアリフトで標高1670ｍまで上がると、空気は一気に涼しくなりました。
We took a ropeway from Tohmi Station at the hillside, elevation 818m, to Alps Daira Station, elevation 1515m, covering almost 700m elevation difference. We then took a Alps Outlook Pair Lift to go up to elevation 1670m, where the air became definately cooler.
少し雲がかかっていましたが、遠く、浅間山や菅平も見渡せました。
Though there were some clouds, we could see as far as Mt. Asama and Mt. Sugadaira.
地蔵の頭 標高1676メートル
This is the highest place of this botanical garden, elevation 1676m.
パラグライダーで気持ち良さそうに空散歩する人たちもいました。
We saw two paragraiders enjoying their flying in the sky.
真夏なので花など咲いていないかと心配していましたが、たくさんの夏の高山植物を見ることができました。
We had been afraid that there might not been any flowers in this hot weather but up there we saw many highland flowers blooming.
翌日、友人は三日間を美ヶ原で過ごすと言って立ち去りました。そして、その翌日の朝、美ヶ原の夜明けの写真を送ってきてくれました。山頂でキャンプしたから見られる景色、良いですね！
On the next morning, our friend left for Utsukushigahara Hights to stay there in his camping car. And on the first morning up there for him, he sent us a wonderful morning scenery. This is a pleasure only for those who stayed up there overnight.
